Travis Weaver from Manready Mercantile catches up with Ace
AR: What inspired you to get into your business?
TW: I came from a small farm in Texas in a town called Zephyr. I wanted to prove to people that you can make it and achieve your dreams if you just work hard, be honest, and never give up. I started making products in my apartment in Houston and went door-to-door selling them and never looked back!
AR: What is your favorite motto?
TW: Work Hard, Live Well. I actually trademarked it and a lot of folks should put some really good thought into what that means. It can really get you somewhere if you believe in it!
AR: What is your favorite destination to travel to?
TW: Anywhere that has clear water! My favorite destination is wherever I haven’t been!
AR: What’s on your bucket list of where you still want to go? Why?
TW: I’d love to go to Fiji. It’s the ultimate paradise and where I came from, people can only dream of visiting places like this. It’s just not a reality for most from small towns to be able to get out and see the world and that’s one thing that I’m going to do before it’s all said and done.
AR: What are your travel essentials?
TW: I never leave without sunglasses, Maron Goods solid sunblock, Alfred Lane travel cologne, a super-soft tee, and swim trunks. One quirky thing about me is that I always have my own blend of spices when I travel. I love to cook and furthermore, I always like to be prepared.
AR: What is on your playlist right now?
TW: Jonny Cash. I never change it.
AR: For anyone visiting your town, what is a go-to restaurant that can’t me missed?
TW: Coltivare in Houston for sure. I go there at least once per week. What’s your favorite dish on the menu? Why settle for one favorite when you can have three? Get the chicken, the pasta, and the cauliflower, and have all three in one bite. It’s called, “the perfect bite” and you should trust me on this.
AR: Describe your personal style.
TW: I like timeless basics. I’m not into trends or weird styles and I can assure you that I’m not into “what’s cool” or whatever. I like clothing that is universal and can be worn by all age groups in a number of different settings. It makes life easier and less stressful. People worry too much about trying to have the next cool thing and what everybody else thinks about what you’re wearing.
AR: What is your favorite Ace Rivington product?
TW: The super soft tee of course! I wear it several times per week and is without a doubt, one of my favorite articles of clothing in my closet. It just doesn’t get any better!
